Hey all,
I was wondering if there is a way to discern between a mid-length / carbine length AR15? From what I've read it has something to do with the gas block locations?
I want to get an SD-1 for my rifle, and from what I read the SD-1 wont fit on a midlength rifle. If thats the case, is it possible to pop the can on a lathe and turn it down a little?
Thanks

Post a pic, we'll tell you.
The gas system length (and handguard/rail) is 7" for carbine and 9" for midlength. Since the SD-1 is open-ended toward the rear, you can cut it down to the desired length if you want. The SD-1 is held and supported only by the front cap that threads onto the muzzle.

heres a pic of my upper, hopefully the rail covers don't interfere with what you need to see. Attachment:

thanks.
last question...
since the muzzle device will essentially be absent, should i be expecting more recoil / a large flash signature with this?
i plan on using the SD-1 temporarily/for fun until my stamp for my SBR goes through, then I will be using the SD-1 to keep all the carbon / crap away from the rail and my hands when shooting.

You can expect far more flash without a flash suppressor on the muzzle. There will be no difference in recoil. Muzzle rise may increase slightly.
