Hi,

I'm from England (the land where we can't be trusted with semi auto centrefires!), and I've had my ST-15 and conversion kit for nearly 2 years. Although my ST-15 is what is known as a straight pull (no gas port or tube) due to our laws, I still have a great time with it and when using the .22 kit (we can at least have .22LR in semi-auto) I still have a grin from ear to ear!

I'm ex regular British Army (5 years Royal Artillery, air defence), and still work for the Ministry of Defence in an armed role.

Couple of pics of my range toy;

And as you guys don't see them too often, here's my duty rifle;

Thanks guys :)

Spikes is well known to the ones informed. I spent some time operating with the Royal Marines while in the US Marines, great bunch of guys, crazy as hell, but still a great bunch of guys.

Spikes are fairly well known over here. The main brands of AR in the U.K. are;

Spikes Tactical,
Lanner Tactical (U.K. outfit),
Bradley Arms (U.K. outfit),
Southern Gun Company (U.K. outfit, uses DPMS parts),
CMMG (only the .22LR rifles and kits on sale here at the moment),
Sabre Defence (now defunct due to the owner being arrested),
LMT are releasing a .308 straight pull in the U.K. shortly.

There are no Colts in private ownership whatsoever as for a rifle to be legal here it must be built from scratch as a straight pull rifle, not a gas operated rifle that has been converted to straight pull. Obviously the U.K. is a small market so Colt didn't bother with us Brits.

I have seen only one Bushmaster AR15 (XM17E2) in the U.K. that was straight pull, I'm guessing probably a limited run. This rifle had a barrel that had a gas port, but the FSB was a solid casting, kind of pointless as an FSB block drilled for the gas tube and roll pin is easily obtainable here.
