Hey ST'ers,

I recently acquired a built spikes tactical AR15 that I love! It is my first AR, and I wanted to get some things clarified.

The person I bought it from told me that it came with a Lothar Walther Barrel... I wasnt sure if this is what came standard on typical spikes uppers or not?

On the barrel I can see an engraving that says:

ST LW-19 CMV 5.56 NATO 1/8 QPQ HP MP

Could someone decode this for me? I know what the 5.56 nato part means, but what exactly is the twist on the barrel, and what does CMV, QPQ, HP MP, and all that stuff stand for?

I'd like to know the threading on the barrel so I dont order a wrong battlecomp for it.

Thanks!

The threading is 1/2x28, the same as all 5.56 AR's.

ST = Spike's Tactical
LW-19 CMV = Raw Barrel Material
5.56 NATO = Caliber
1/8 = Twist Rate
QPQ = Melonite Coated, 3 pass (Quench Polish Quench)
HP = High Pressure Tested (Proof Tested)
MP = Magnetic Particle Tested

Thanks JaxChris, I was hoping you would chime in!

So is this barrel something that comes standard on the uppers, or is it indeed something aftermarket?

Not aftermarket, but not the default. It is our corrosion resistant barrel, and is an enhancement above the standard LE barrels. The barrel extension may even be NiB, depending which year it is from. Those barrels are a little over twice the price of the LE barrels.
