There are only 8 Biohazard receiver sets that received NiB coating. They were all initial demonstrators for the Compressor. The receivers were received in the white, bead blasted, NiB coated, and bead blasted again. This gives it a deliberately matte finish, but retains the properties that make it a slick and easy to clean coating.

In the 10th Anniversary Rifle, Tom decided to go Nickle Teflon because of its' already low reflectivity and better adhesion to 7075 T6. Nickle Boron is actually a bitch to make it stick to aluminium. Either you have to use electroless NiB, or you have to use electroless nickle and then perform standard NiB treatment on top of that. The tolerances are tight with two coatings, and electroless nickle boron is not as seasoned as NiB.

can you expand upon the bead blasting process? what do you mean by the receivers were received in the white? doesn't bead blasting NIB cause it to be more shiny and less of a matte look? I'm really trying to achieve the same look of the NIB receiver sets. Thank you

The receiver sets we have on the site right now are Nickel Teflon coated, because it bonds better with 7075-T6 and it already has a lower reflectivity than Nickel Boron.

Bead blasting a high reflective part actual dulls the finish and makes it more matte. It is the same process used on our stainless steel barrels.

Polishing is the process that will raise the reflectivity of a part.

"In the white" is a term that refers to receiving the parts from the vendor without any coating performed on them. This is useful for barrels that we send to get Melonited, or receivers we plan to Cerakote or Nickel Teflon. By receiving without a coating, we avoid overcoating them with a second layer that could put the product out of spec in tight fitment areas.

I'm not sure which blast media ST has in the blasting tank. I'll ask Tom.

Ok thanks, because from what I understand some types of media will actually make it shiney

Alumnium oxide is the blast media.

Glass bead causes shine. Standard metal oxide can create rust from material transfer.

Are Biohazard lowers available from any of your dealers or are they strictly for in house consumption. I don't mean does anyone have any for sale. I mean is that something Spike's sells to their dealers (when available) as stripped lowers?

When there is available quantity, they are sold to dealers as stripped lowers and as receiver sets.
