If i dont dissasemble my bolt and carrier and take off all resedue on the bolt every 100 rounds or so i get ftfeeds and double feeding, and the coating is wearing away on the bolt the rear is no longer dark just shinney, is this allowing more buildup? I have about 600 rounds through my rifle, i use plenty of clp and hops gun grease i make sure the bolt moves like butter, 100 or less rounds later buildup and shity movement, is this normal? I shoot fiocchi pmc and am tactical rounds, NO steel rounds, it becomes totAlly unrealiable after so few rounds

Spikes stands behind their products. Call them and they will trouble-shoot with you over the phone. If that doesn't work, they will give you a RMA number to send it back. Good luck!

Did you get any help with your problem?

Reason I asked is the first time I took out my new M-4 w billet lower, I had a couple of FTE. I went out the second time and had alot. I am going to call Spikes Tuesday morning. It seems like the bolt is not low enough to catch the round in the mag, and it hits the center of the round instead of the back, deforming the round. I have tried pmags and steel mags with a variety of round but doesn't seem to be any difference

the more research I do online, I think I have a short stroking problem. Either a gas leak or the buffer tube. Any Ideas?

What are the complete specs of your rifle? Was it ordered complete from ST? What mods have been made?

ST-LE M-4 16" Upper w 7" Bar. Billet Lower w EPK. I got it 3 weeks ago. The only thing I added was a BCM Mod 4 Charging Handle. Everything is Spikes. I could post pictures of Misfed rounds if that would help. There are 2 deep impressions that match up to the bolt that gives me the impression that it is short stroking. Thanks.

Actually, it is the pictures posted in "It's here and worth it" I could give you the order number if you need it.

You are likely correct on the short stroking.

Have any range buddies you can swap uppers with real quick? If their upper runs fine on your lower it is the gas system.

Call up Tue and get tech support. Have the rifle in hand when you call. They will issue an RMA for either the upper or the whole rifle based on the call and will get it taken care of.

I don't have anyone I can swith uppers with, so I will just call Tech support and see if we can figure it out. If I return the whole rifle, does it have to come back through my FFL dealer? Thanks for the help.

ATF allows rifles sent back to the factory to be returned directly to the consumer as long as it is the same controlled part (serial number) shipped both ways.

What if the rifle is a defective unit? I know it is legal for the manufacturer to send back a replacement serial numbered unit. As long as you're getting back something identical to what you sent in to the manufacturer it is kosher.
