Hello,
I just picked up a RRA LAR-9 and had some questions on the Spike's spacer and buffers.
First of all, the RRA has a slant back commercial buffer tube and was wondering about any issues using the ST-9BS spacer with the slant back tube. I's rather not swap to a mil-spec tube if I don't have to since I have a commercial CTR stock on the way.
Also, I'm a little confused about the pros and cons of the different buffer weights on a 9mm. The RRA 9mm buffer is supposedly 5.5 oz. Spike's has a combo for the 9mm with the ST-9BS spacer and the ST-T2 buffer, which only weighs ~4 oz. Isn't the lower weight of the ST-T2 a step back for a 9mm? On the other side, I see the ST-9X buffer specifically for 9mm and has the extra length built in, but supposedly weighs ~8 oz, which seems extra heavy and I wondering if that may impact reliability. I'm running the stock 16" barrel, semi-auto, and unsuppressed.
TIA.

The ST-9x is the better option. The T2 combo is more for those that want to swap a 9mm upper onto their 5.56 carbine from time to time. And since you don't want to swap to a mil-spec tube, I would skip the spacer idea.

Thanks for the quick reply. What about the weight on the ST-9X? It seem to be quite a bit heavier than the RRA buffer and I'm wondering if anyone has experience using it in a RRA 9mm gun or upper? Thanks.

As long as you're not using subsonics or very weak commercial (i.e. Tula) you will be good to go. The 9X will provide a softer shooting experience, but if you want a wider range of ammo options you should keep the RRA buffer.
