I know you have at least two stamps for your sbr. And if you only have one, I know you're working on your second. Did you guys have any issues with the stamps? What was your turn around time for application to stamp in hand? Anyone buy some parts to start with to suddenly get denied? Drooling over the 5" Lothar Walther Gemtech 3 lug. I hope it doesn't sell out by the time I get my papers in order.

If you send your own to create an SBR from a lower, it can be 4-6 months from the day you mail the forms/check to the day you receive your stamp. If you are buying a suppressor from across the country, then it can be 6-9 months from date of purchase to the day you can take it home.

I haven't done one in a few (6) months, but I am about to have at least (3) on the chopping block as soon as sheite gets straight w/ AAC.
Mine were taking about 90-120 days from box2box...EXCEPT for one Tampa dealer that took over a year since he never sent the paper work or payment (was included in the cost of the item) in...WE WONT talk about that dealer!~

So based on my research: In 2008 (I don't know the laws may have changed), if a person doesn't have the lower yet, and that person want's to outsource the build to a proper firearm manufactuer. The manufactuer of the firearm will fill out the FORM 1. Once FORM 1 is approved and the firearm is built, the manufactuer then transfers the firearm using FORM 4, since it's an SBR. Is this info still good?
And if I contacted a manufactuer for the build, I'm sure they would want to make sure everything (i.e. Gun Trust ESTABLISHED or Corporation Papers NOTORIZED, and FORM 4 APPROVAL) is in order before they even consider filling out a FORM 1, right?
So I'm sure they want everything up front: $400 worth of stamps (FORM 1 + FORM 4) plus the cost of the firearm?
I know this is NOT a legal firearm consultation site, it's just a FORUM. I know in the end it's my responsibility to know the legality of aquiring a SBR. I just wanted to ask you guys to make sure I'm heading in the right direction.
If I build it myself, (with the stamps and all) it's roughly just as expensive as if I asked a proper manufactuer to do it, and it comes with a lifetime, know what I mean?
Anyways, some insight would be welcomed.

You are mostly correct.
If you order a custom SBR, the price will include 200$ for the Form 1 the manufacturer must file during the building process and the appropriate amount of Federal Excise tax for the assembly and sale of a complete firearm.
During this waiting period, you should make sure your trust or corp is in order or have one created.
Once the weapon is on its Form 1, it will be shipped to your FFL. When it arrives there, this is when you will pay the FFL transfer fee along with filing your Form 4 with your FFL. Then begins the next waiting period.
After that times slowly passes, you will one day receive this magical call that your stamp has come in and you are able to come get your toy.
From original purchase to finally taking it home can take from 7 to 12 months.

Hmm. How much is an 'appropriate amount of Federal Excise tax' for that kind of build?
I know you're told me in another thread that if I build it I can save 250-400. With my trigger finger I might just buy the Spikes 9mm Carbine, but I'd want the premium lower internals in it. Then stamp it for the Walther/Gemtech 5" w/Daniel Defense 4.0. oh decisions decisions

I actually just saw a post on the AAC Blog a few weeks ago that someone got a suppressor approved in like 28 days on a trust

I use nfatracker.com to see how long people are reporting for things. I haven't done a can yet to personally know how fast a Form 4 will fly. But 100 days isn't bad I guess.

But 100 days isn't bad I guess. currently I'm at like day 75 from the day my check cleared on my Form 1 on a trust, but right at day 90 from when they would have received it (based on a 3 day trip via USPS), so I'm hoping for at least some kind of response, one way or the other (my "reason" was of questionable nature) sometime in the next few weeks. I will definitely update when it arrives.

Love the answer to "why you intend to make firearm?"

Firearm Trusts should contain the full name of the Trustee/Grantor, in fact most states require the full name for all trusts. Maybe NV is different.
