Hi! I received a Spikes' middy LE upper from Primary Arms last Wednesday. All looked very good and still does for the most part. I noticed that the left ear on the sight was bent out a bit more than the right and checked it against my Bushmaster. My Bushy's right ear is a little more bent out that it's left and while it's not as noticeable as the left one on my Spikes I simply dismissed as something that's probably not perfect on any AR and as it seems to be of no consequence, pretty much forgot about it. I bought a Magpul flip up BUS and installed it over the weekend and today I took a trip to my son's home in central FL, very near to Apopka BTW. He threw the rifle up to his shoulder and the first thing he said was that the front sight post looked like it was leaning to the left. I looked, changed apertures back and forth and he's right, the front site post is crooked. I rotated it a quarter turn and it's still looks the same. The 'seam' on the rear of the sight doesn't look quite right either while the front of the 'seam' looks very nicely done. I can't really tell if the whole front sight is crooked. I don't really think it is but I can't really tell. The front sight post is definitely leaning a bit to the left though. Is there an easy fix for this and is this a usual issue?
Thanks!

Is the front sight post itself centered? It should be because of the way we fixture them when they are drilled.

Yes, it seems to be centered as I have a front sight tool that will fit between the ears and will turn the post. It looks as thought the sight post hole is at an angle. I thought at first that it may be an optical illusion as I knew that the left ear was flared out more than the right but I think that the post... or it may be the whole sight... I can't tell. I don't have a caliper or other tools to help discern the issue.

I currently have it on a Plum Crazy lower but I've decided that I want to put it on a Spikes But I see that you're backed up on orders... figured I'd drive over and pick one up directly from you when you have them back in stock. I'm about 60 miles from Apopka.

I removed the lower and the rear sight. If you level the upper's rails and eyeball straight down, it looks as though the whole front sight is tipped to the right.

Any possibility of a picture?

I've already got it boxed up to go *somewhere*. I'm considering simply returning it for a refund rather than deal with the hassle and expense of getting it to and retrieving it from Spikes. The return policy for Primary Arms is 10 days and I'm on day 8. I couldn't tell exactly what the issue was until I could see straight down the top rail. Looking through a rear site makes it look like the sight post is leaning left and with the ears the way they are it's difficult to discern what exactly is out of kilter. And it may just be that the sight itself is not "square". I think I mentioned that the rear 'seam' is not straight but I thought that was probably cosmetic and wasn't too worried about that.

Your upper/rifle has a LIFETIME WARRANTY. If for some reason it doesn't ZERO correctly when you are shooting it, we will fix or replace it.

I understand. A crooked front sight doesn't get it whether it shoots straight or not. It'd always bug the hell outta me.

If the front sight post is centered and it zero's properly then there isn't an issue.

Whatever you say, Tom. Too bad you're not interested in looking at it. I'm returning it.

Why would we have to look at it if you have not even tried to shoot it yet?

The front sight is canted to the right. I don't want to be looking at a leaning front sight post when I'm trying to shoot. I just started reading a bit about this exact issue ( http://www.m4carbine.net/showthread.php?t=807 ) and it looks as though it may be the upper and not the FS. IDK if it's the upper or the FS or what, I just don't want to deal with this being an ongoing PITA.
