I have the stab, but I find it to heavy. I am thinking about switching it out. It is on my pistol that I am building (7" JSE barrel). How might a Dynacomp Extreme H.V.S. (5.56) work on that? Later becoming suppressed down the road and SBR'ed more than likely.  Waiting on the buffer and BCG

Hell, I'd buy the STAB. =)
A Dynacomp HVS would work just fine on a short barrel. It was designed for the Compressor SBR. It will be loud and violent compared to the STAB, but should run just fine as long as your JSE barrel's gas port is properly sized.

I am hesitant to sell the STAB since it is no longer produced. But for arguments sake what is the going price on one nowadays.

No clue what the aftermarket price would be on one. You'd likely only get a little more than paid if new and original price if used/good cond.

What would be an optimal replacement for the STAB that would not be loud and violent? Of course in the ST line of products.

Dynacomp will make a little fireball at the end of your muzzle if you run 5.56 NATO ammo. It isn't very visible with commercial .223 rounds. The Spike's Muzzle Brake puts it all sideways and can be bothersome to your lane neighbors at a range. The Vortex has practically no visible flash. The Brake is the loudest, after that the Dynacomp, and then the Vortex would be quietest as well.
Brakes and comps reduce recoil at the expense of more flash and audible report closer to the shooter.

My SBR will be suppressed one day just not this year. maybe 2012 before the so called end of the world and all.
I have the Muzzle Break on my SMR now and it is loud. I guess I would go with the Dynacomp.
