What's going on guys?
I built my spikes upper and lower and finally was able to get out and shoot today and about every 5 or so rounds I get a FTF or Light strike. My only explanation to it that I can come up with is the fact that I put too much lube on the firing pin before heading out... I didn't realize you're not supposed to really Lube up the pin...

Did you check the springs in your fire control group?

For the BCG, it is lube the outside of the carrier and the outside of the bolt.

You know, just after posting this I realized that it could be due to the springs. Maybe I messed up the tension of the fire control springs when I was trying to install them onto the trigger group when putting it together? What would be a good solution to this? Also, how else can I determine what the problem could be?

If the springs are installed wrong, correcting the position of the springs will fix you right up. Your first trip out would not have ruined the springs. It is common with first time builders. I would check that before jumping to any other conclusions or troubleshooting.

I think when I was actually putting the springs over the trigger and hammer I might have over stretched them... I hope I don't have to buy new springs... If anything I guess it gives me a reason to buy the battle trigger now lol

Most that do it out them on upside down and this greatly reduces the energy they hold, which leads to your issue. After you out them on right it should be good to go. Springs don't need to be stretched it pulled to install them... unless maybe you have the trigger and hammer springs backwards.

On AR15.com you will find a nice detailed lower assembly instructions that have a great section on fire control group function checks during assembly. I keep a copy in my gunsmithing tool box.

No biggie. It is a common first timer mistake.
