Hello, I'm a newbie to the AR15 and own the Spikes mid length .556 .. It works fine never had 1 problem with about 1000 rounds so far . I keep it very clean and have been looking at some of the Lubrication Videos on the internet. There are several people who suggest "Greasing" everything in the BCG .. I can see both sides of this argument and would like the offical Spikes Tactical lubeing recomendations .. Mainly the Bolt and carrier also inside of the Upper where the bolt rides .. Thanks in advance for the help here .. so very glad I went with Spikes .. DJ

Depends on if you prefer to use lube or grease. Greasing everything would cause too much build up. Lubing everything and leaving it dripping wet is just plain messy.
Lube: Happen to have an air compressor? Clean with CLP, wipe dry/clean, spray it all with CLP, and hit with your compressor at low PSI to blow off excess. This will spread the lube evenly across all parts without leaving anything soaked.
Grease: Clean with CLP, wipe dry, apply a thin coat of grease to the outside of the carrier, outside of the gas key, and along the body of the bolt (not the face, the bolt pocket of the carrier does not need grease if you grease the bolt). Only 1 surface of each contact area needs grease. The other surface should be cleaned and wiped.
I'm preferential to the lube method because it is simple, quick and even every time.

Thanks for the reply you folks have allways been so helpfull .. Sounds like the best way is sorta in between greasing it all and just lubeing the "shiney" parts. I do have a compressor and will use your advice .. Thanks .. On another note .. Have you heard of this "new" new to me anyhow "dry lube" you spray it on and it dries fast leaving a slippery (teflon I think) coating behind .. Its slippery but dry to the touch .. I'm thinking this might work well inside of the upper bolt carrier to lube it a little and better still I think Powder residue won't stick to anything you spray this on..
I tried this on my Mossberg Pump Shotgun .. It was racking pretty tight and not allways ejecting or loading the chamber .. This lube seems to have made it work slicker without leaving a bunch of wet lube behind to attract dirt etc. The real cause of the poor operation of this shotgun was because it was/is so new that it needs to be "broken in"
Sorry this is so long winded . Thanks for the help... Looking to get a 300 blackout from you guys next .. Spikes Tactical doesn't cut corners on quality from everything I've researched.. D.J.
