Customize your own .22LR Upper here.
Options available include Daniel Defense AR-15 Lite rails in 12.0, 10.0, 9.0 and 7.0 and various sized barrel lengths (keep in mind that the barrel goes inside the receiver approximately 1.5") we will do custom lengths to 16" for an upcharge (let me know in the Comment section when you check out what length) along with other things listed below. Also, for you guys running full auto don't forget to add the Auto Trip below.
FYI: The legal 16" barrel goes inside the receiver 1.5" so the barrel looks like a true military 14.5" length. The barrel also comes threaded 1/2 x 28. This upper utilizes the correct twist 1:16 rate for the .22lr bullet and eliminates the problem of fouling AR15 gas tubes with dirty rimfire ammunition. All of our uppers come standard with Match Quality Green Mountain barrels.
Regarding the Spike's Tactical .22lr bolt. Our bolt is based on the Atchison design with improvements including the following: an electroless nickel finish gives it a much slicker, smoother finish so you do not have to run it as wet which means the bolt stays cleaner longer. We have changed some tolerances, beefed up the firing pin and pre-drilled for a ball-detent.
Udate 6/17/09 Current lead time on .22lr uppers ordered today is running about 1-2 weeks. Custom configurations may have a longer lead time. The 7.0 and 12.0 DD Lite rails are currently on back order! If you don't want to wait for your upper choose a 9.0 Lite rail.
We test fire and tune all of the dedicated uppers in house with Federal bulk pack from Walmart but some of the dedicated uppers may require tuning for your setup or ammo, un-notched hammers also work best with them. Most all full-auto's will require tuning and hot ammo. We recommend running a suppressor on a barrel length shorter than 10".
